Postcards From the Falls: Issue 033, November 2024
The newsletter for all things Brennan LaFaro: Last hurrah for fall appearances, dying in a new anthology, and an unmissable sale on signed books!
Halloween 2024 is in the rear-view mirror, and 2025 will be here in no time. With that, I’ve officially wrapped up the last my author appearances until next year. So, I’m putting up the rest of my stock on my webstore. Last Stay and Illusions of Isolation are available, but for the first time, I’ve added signed copies of I Will Always Find You: The Complete Slattery Falls for sale. Also, I’ve discounted the remaining DarkLit copies of Noose and The Demon of Devil’s Cavern - only $10 each while they last.
So stock up for yourself, or treat your friends and family to an early holiday gift. You can order signed, personalized books here.
I was lucky enough to make two appearances during the month of October.
First up, Gibson’s Bookstore in Concord, NH hosted an event for New England horror authors featuring myself Tom Deady, John Durgin, Cat Scully, Aquino Loayza, Glenn Rolfe, and many more. Ryan at Gibson’s is a top-tier bookseller and champion of horror, and I’m grateful I got to meet her. Gibson’s is also carrying signed copies of I Will Always Find You, Noose, and The Demon of Devil’s Cavern if you’re local and want to support a great bookstore.

I also attended an event at the Fall River Public Library with Ricardo D. Rebelo and Jason Parent to promote the Monsters in the Mills anthology, edited by Christa Carmen and L.E. Daniels, as well as just talk horror. A fun night with a good turn-out and some great audience questions.

Truborn Press is releasing an anthology next year called Punk Goes Horror with stories by Brian McAuley, Rachel Harrison, Liz Kerin, and Christoph Paul, and edited by William Sterling. As soon as I saw the idea and the line-up, I knew I had to write something for it, and was thrilled to have my Thursday story “Dying in New Brunswick” accepted. It’s a found footage psychological horror story with one of the creepiest… let’s say antagonists I’ve written to date. Make sure to preorder this antho when it goes live to get plenty of tales of moshpits and mayhem.

Finally, Where the Daybreak Ends: Stories From Buzzard’s Edge is out in just over a month (and you can preorder here) Early reviewers are really enjoying the mix of stories and expansion of the Buzzard’s Edge mythos, and just as I’d hoped, readers who haven’t read the other books in the series are finding just as much to love as those familiar with the town. After sharing some info about a couple stories last month, I wanted to tease a little more here:
“Where the Daybreak Ends” - I wrote this story about a year before writing Demon, but readers who’ve spent time with that novel may recognize the two men fleeing westward to escape puritanical New England roots. Except something follows them, and if you’ve spent any time in Slattery Falls, it may just sound familiar.
“Holes” - A disgraced sheriff living in exile finds a series of holes forming in his yard, dark black patches of nothing that multiply and expand. This story is Poe’s “Tell-Tale Heart” meets King’s “The Raft” and may be the most gruesome story I’ve ever written.
“Salvia Sunset” - If you’re a fan of creature features, this one is for you. Big monster mayhem and a brand new character I had so much fun writing that I’m carving out a place for her in the next Rory and Alice book.
Speaking of Rory and Alice, WTDE features a brand new novella with those characters, and if you tune in to the December issue of Postcards, I’ll tell you a little about it, along with a couple more stories. Just enough to whet your appetite before release on December 3rd.
Don’t forget, it’s available to preorder now in both ebook and paperback.
Until December, stay spooky.
